CUC – Consolidated Utilities Corporation
Consolidated Utilities Corporation (CUC) was formed in 1997 in response to a need to have a full-service compressed natural gas (CNG) station maintenance organization available for the growing CNG fueling station industry.
CUC’s sister company, AVSG LP, designed and installed the Logan Airport CNG fueling station in 1995. The station performed well for the first few weeks, but as the demand continued to grow at the station, various station components began to require service. At that time, AVSG was relying on typical local tradesmen to maintain and service the station. However, due to the highly-technical nature of CNG equipment, it was soon realized that a more specialized maintenance workforce would be required.
In 1997, AVSG management decided to create a separate entity, independent of AVSG, to maintain and service not only AVSG’s network of CNG stations – but for other potential CNG station operators as well. CUC’s mandate and primary mission was to insure that AVSG’s CNG fueling stations and equipment were operating efficiently and reliably. CUC accomplished its mission and AVSG’s network of CNG stations maintains a high-state of reliability and readiness. CUC provides this same level of service to all of its clients throughout the northeast.
In addition to AVSG, CUC’s list of clients include commercial companies, industrial manufacturers, municipalities, various state agencies, local natural gas and electric distribution companies (LDCs), and regional transit authorities (RTAs).
CUC personnel are factory-trained on several manufacturers of compressors, dispensers controls, portable equipment, and other CNG station equipment. Also, CUC has one of the largest inventories of portable compression equipment in the US. These portable compressors are based throughout the greater-Boston area and are ready to respond to a compressor station outage.
Outside of CNG station work, CUC has assisted a number of LDCs during pipeline replacement projects using portable compressed natural gas in testing. CUC also has the capability to supply residential or small C&I customers with natural gas during service or main replacement projects when service is interrupted.
With our corporate offices in Boston and a maintenance and service facility in Hudson, MA (30 miles west of Boston), our personnel are centrally-located to serve all of New England. In the last three (3) years, CUC has expanded outside of New England and now serves clients in DE, NY, PA, and VA.
